Women's Lax Tabbed Third in ODAC Poll

Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College Women's Lacrosse team has been picked third in the ODAC Preseason Poll.

RC tallied 80 points to take the third spot, nine points behind second-place Randolph-Macon. Washington and Lee topped the poll with 10 first-place votes. W&L has won 10 straight titles and 21 consecutive ODAC Tournament games dating back to an 11-9 setback to Roanoke in the 2009 championship game.

The Maroons are bolstered by First-Team All-ODAC defender Emerson Foster, second team attack Ellie Armstrong, and third team attack Lilly Blair.

An all-region selection, Foster finished her first season in Salem by starting all 19 games on defense for the Maroons. She had 35 groundballs which was ninth most in the ODAC. Foster also had 82 draw controls which was fifth most in the league.

Armstrong earned her second straight second-team honor after a season in which she was fourth in the league in goals with 54. She also added 13 assists for 68 points which ranked fifth most in the league.

Blair finished her first season as a Maroon with 57 points which was the 11th most in the league in 2019 and second most among ODAC freshmen. Her 48 goals ranked seventh most in the league and tops among freshmen in the ODAC. She also dished out nine assists on the season. 

Roanoke starts its season at Christopher Newport on Feb. 22.
