The Lead: On the Saturday of the 2022 Roanoke College Alumni Weekend, the women's lacrosse team played host to Guilford. Prior to the start, the graduating seniors were honored before a big crowd at Kerr Stadium. After the ceremony Roanoke wasted little time, scoring 13 goals in the opening period on their way to a 26-1, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.

How it Happened:

  • Less then on-minute into the game, Lilly Blair converted a Free Position to get the scoring underway. Less than 60-seoncds later Blair added another and when Emerson Foster scored off a rebound, the Maroons led 3-0. Nicole Harrison added a Free Position score and the lead would grow.
  • Riley Chase scored back-to-back goals and when Libby Bowman got in on the act, Roanoke was up 7-0, forcing an early timeout from Guilford. The stoppage did little to slow the Maroons as Tiernan Connor scored about 30-seonds ahead of another Chase goal. Molly Kasemeyer added a goal to go with her earlier assist and Connor scored again. Blair added her third and the senior made it 13-0 with a score in the closing seconds of the opening frame.
  • Harrison found Chase to start the second quarter. Conner completed her, fist half, hat-trick and with 6:00 remaining before the half, Foster scored from Chase to make it 16-0 at the break.
  • The Quakers got on the board in the third, but two more scores by Blair, the ODAC's leading goal scorer, and a Kate Loughran tally, the lead would be 19-1, heading into the final quarter of play.
  • Grace Koutouzis scored twice with a Maddie Stopkoski goal in between as RC pushed their advantage to 22-1. Harrison and Loughran added scores ahead of a Claire Eisenhart goal. Tierney Maloney scored her first, off a Loughran feed, to close out the scoring as Roanoke cruised to a 26-1 ODAC win.
  • Blair finished the day with six goals and an assist while Chase added four scores and a pair of helpers. Connor scored three times and a quartet of Maroons added two goals apiece.
  • Hallie Redding got the win in goal, allowing no goals, before being relieved by Amber Stallings.
