The Lead: The No. 20 Roanoke women's lacrosse team played its second game in three days and came away with a dominating 17-1 win over the visiting Cougars of Kean on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened/Highlights:

  • It was all Maroons, all the time beginning in the first quarter. Libby Bowman, Lilly Blair, Grace Koutouzis, and Tiernan Connor each scored a goal for Roanoke in the first 15 minutes with Bowman scoring a second on a free position shot with just three seconds left to put the Maroons ahead 5-0 after one quarter.
  • Roanoke didn't stop there as it added six more goals in the second quarter. Koutouzis, Kate Loughran, and Sydney Harrison started off with goals in the first five minutes of the period before Connor and Blair scored on woman-up opportunities. Loughran added a second goal, this time on a woman-down chance with just over a minute left before halftime.
  • Leading 11-0 at the break did not deter Blair from scoring three times in the third period while Bowman added her third of the contest. Soria Ebert scored her first of the game with 44 seconds left to put Roanoke ahead 16-0.
  • The two teams would trade goals in the fourth with Tracey Benzing putting the Maroons ahead at 8:34 before the Cougars scored their lone goal with 3:45 left in the game.
  • Blair led the Maroons with five goals and two assists, also winning six draw controls. Addison Schmidt forced five caused turnovers and finished 10 on the weekend.
