The Lead: After picking up a win in their final home event of the season on Thursday when they bested Southern Virginia, they made the trip to Danville (Averett University) to compete in the Southeast Wrestling Conference (SEWC) Championships. The Maroons would see wrestlers finish in the top three in half, five, of the 10 weight divisions, including a class winner at 184. After securing 121.5 team points, Roanoke would finish 3^rd in the eight-team event.

RC highlights:

• 125: Josh Noble would lose a decision in the quarterfinals after winning his opener by fall. A fall and major decision put Noble into the Consolation semifinals where he advanced to the 3^rd-place match with a medical walkover. Tied 4-4, Noble earned the win with a Sudden Victory to claim a spot on the podium.
• 133: Sean Hall received an opening round Bye then pinned Harper Thompson (SVU) to earn a spot in the Championship semifinals. Hall secured a spot in the finals with a 5-4 decision over his opponent from Averett. In the Finals, Hall would fall to Josh Wilson (Greensboro) and finish runner-up.
• 141: Morgan Robinson used a second period fall and 10-1 major decision would place Robinson in the Championship semifinals. However, Brandon Woody (Averett) would send Robinson into the Consolation bracket. Morgan went back-to-back, winning a pair of decisions giving up just one point to secure a 3^rd place finish.
• 174: Steven Martinos opened with a first period pin before falling by decision and forced to fight back through the Consolation bracket. A pin and major decision would get Martinos into the semifinals where he would pick up a 14-7 decision to set up a Consolation finals match with teammate Sawyer Dereszynski. Martinos would get the best of his fellow Maroon with a 13-4 major decision, giving Roanoke a pair in the top four.
• 184: Mahlic Sallah used a 7-4 decision to move into the Championship quarters. Sallah finished off Kowen Lee (Averett), 9-2, before picking up a major decision over Greensboro to earn a spot in the finals. Sallah would face off with Khalil Mitchell (Averett) for the 184 title and Sallah would give the Maroons a champion with an 8-3 decision. For his efforts, Sallah was named 2022 SEWC Most Outstanding Wrestler Award (165-285).
