The Lead: Mahlic Sallah punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships in two weeks with a third-place finish in at 2023 NCAA Div. III Southeast Regional Championships this weekend. Five total Maroons reached the podium on Saturday. The regional was hosted by York College. The Maroons finished in ninth place with 60.5 points.
RC highlights:
- 141 lbs. – Mark Samuel won his first three matches before falling in the 5th place match to finish 3-3 and reach the podium.
- 149 lbs. – Morgan Robinson lost his first prelim match but bounced back with three-straight wins before winning the 7th-place match for a spot on the podium after going 4-2.
- 157 lbs. – Zane Cox finished 3-2 including a fall in the 7th-place match to reach the podium.
- 165 lbs. – Jacob Cherry also finished 3-2 and earned a spot on the podium after a win in the 7th-place match.
- 184 lbs. – Sallah finished third after going 4-1 including a 5-3 decision in the third-place match.
Up next: Sallah will travel JUST across town to the Berglund Center in Roanoke for the 2023 NCAA Div. III National Championships on March 10-11. The championships are being hosted by fellow ODAC member Ferrum College.
