Several Maroons Earn All-ODAC Honors

SALEM, Va. -- The Roanoke wrestling team earned a share of the 2022-23 ODAC Wrestling title along with Mahlic Sallah earning his second straight All-American status at the NCAA Div. III National Championships. Along the way several wrestlers helped the Maroons have success this year and have been honored by the ODAC for their efforts.

Seven Maroons earned All-ODAC honors along with another earning one of the top yearly awards given out by the league office.

Mark Samuel was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year after going 11-4 on the season including 4-0 in ODAC duals. He finished the season with a 5th-place finish at the Southeast Regional

For the All-ODAC Teams, wrestlers earn a spot based on their finish at the ODAC Championships. A first-place finish earned a wrestler First Team honors with a runner-up finish earned a wrestler Second Team honors. The same is for third-place and Third Team honors. 

Both Sallah and Corey Messick won ODAC titles at 184 lbs. and 133 lbs., respectively, to earn First Team All-ODAC honors. Jacob Cherry finished as the runner-up at 165 lbs. to earn Second Team honors. Mac Cafurello (125 lbs.), Zane Cox (157 lbs.), Kyle Lee (174 lbs.), and Wyatt Sage (197 lbs.) all finished third in their respective weight classes to earn Third Team All-ODAC honors.
