The Lead: The Roanoke women's soccer team traveled to Atlanta to face Emory University on Friday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The home team scored in the opening minute and added three more first half goals to take the match, 4-0.

Highlights:

  • Under a minute into the match, Emory scored on a shot from 20 yards out to make it 1-0.
  • About midway through the first half, the Eagles made it 2-0 when the scored off a corner.
  • Two more scores during the first 45 minutes of play gave Emory a 4-0 advantage at the break. Total shots for the first half went in favor of the hosts, 16-1.
  • In the second half, Roanoke would put four shots on goal, two by Cameron Shackford, but all four attempts were saved by the Emory keeper and the Eagles would win the match by a final of 4-0.
  • Carrington Lippi started and played the first half, recording three saves, before being relieved by Victoria Correll after the break. Correll finished the second half with six saves.

Up next: Roanoke was scheduled to face Sweet Briar in their home finale on Sunday, but the game was declared a no contest so the Maroons will next travel to Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon.
