Petrucelli's Hat Trick Leads Maroons to 4-0 Win Over EMU on Senior Day

The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's soccer team opened up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 shutout of Eastern Mennonite University as part of Family Weekend. Prior to the start of the match all four Maroon seniors, Carrington Lippi, Logan Tyler, Mia Clary, and Eliza Ryan were all honored for their contributions over the past four seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Morgan O'Neill scored the game-winner just 7:18 into the game off a ball played on the right side past the Royals' goalkeeper to put the Maroons ahead 1-0.
  • Just over four minutes later MC Petrucelli scored from the middle to put an insurance goal on the board in the first half. The Maroons led 2-0 at the break.
  • Petrucelli was not done on the day and scored two goals in a span of 11 seconds for Roanoke. She first scored unassisted at 69:18 and followed up with a goal off a pass from Brooke Nicholson at 69:29.
  • Roanoke held on for the 4-0, shutout win.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Maroons took 40 shots on the game to just four for the Royals.
  • Roanoke reached double-digit corner kicks for the second time this season, surpassing 10 against Greensboro on September 1 with 11 against EMU.
