Women's Tennis Earns 8-1 Win at VWC in Regular Season Finale

The Lead: Roanoke swept VWC in doubles matches en route to an 8-1 ODAC win Saturday afternoon in the final match of the regular season.

How it Happened:

  • Emily Henderson and Colette Wibaut kicked off the day with an 8-4 win over Kellen Phillips and Jackie Lee at the No. 1 spot.
  • Catherine Lee and Madeline Herring followed suit with an 8-4 victory over Aubree Johnson and Katie Staman at No. 2. Carolyn Kitsock and Janny Alvarado secured the doubles matches sweep with an 8-1 win over Jacklyn Cheely and Francesca Lanuza.
  • In singles action, Henderson took a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Lee at the No. 1 position. At No. 2, Wibaut defeated Katie Staman 6-0, 7-5.
  • At No. 4, Lydia Dey (6-1, 6-1) beat Cheely followed by a 7-6, 6-2 win from Tracy Kile at No. 5 and a 6-3, 6-3 win by Nicole Rajner over Abby Horgan at No. 6.
