Roanoke Clinches 20-win Season against Lynchburg, 3-0

Salem, Va. --- Roanoke College Volleyball set yet another milestone in a 3-0 win over Lynchburg at the Bast Center on Friday evening. The women clinched their fourth 20-win season in school-history and improved to 20-3 overall with a 6-3 mark in the ODAC. The Hornets dropped to 11-11 and 2-4 in the conference.
Head Coach Blair Trail won her 188th match of her 10-year career which is second among active ODAC coaches. All four 20-win seasons have come under Trail and was the program's fourth since 2002. It was the first time the Maroons have had back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2002-03.
Roanoke defeated Lynchburg with scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-22 to win its sixth ODAC match of the season. The Maroons are now 21-13 all-time against the Hornets. They have won 12 out of their last 16 games against their ODAC opponent.
The women are riding a seven-match win streak and dating back to last season have won 27 of their last 32 matches.
Maggie Wagner led Roanoke with 10 kills along with 10 digs. It was the 12th match that she has reached double-figures in kills this season. Kelsey Largen had seven kills and 10 digs while Marcy Conner and Lynsey Ferris finished with five kills each. Conner has moved her way into sole possession of seventh all-time in career block solos with 103. With her block assist tonight, she needs one more to move up to fourth in career block assists.
Emily Martin had 13 digs on the night as she has had at least 10 or more digs in eight of the last 11 matches. Caitlyn Long led the Maroons with 28 assists along with seven digs and a season-best four kills. Long is four aces from moving into seventh all-time with 102 for her career. She is now 26 assists from moving into the top-10 in career assists. The all-time leader in digs at Roanoke, Long has moved into eighth in single-season digs with 312.
Erin Burnop had four kills on the evening and needs two more to move into eighth all-time in career kills. Burnop (1811) and Conner (1671) have moved into sixth and seventh, respectively in career attacks.
The women will host Greensboro tomorrow in non-conference action. The Maroons are 3-17 all-time against the Pride but Roanoke has won the last two meetings, including a 3-1 decision on Aug. 31 in the Cougar Classic. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
