Maroons drop first match of season to W&L

Salem, Va. --- Roanoke fell to Washington & Lee, 3-0 in volleyball action at the Bast Center on Tuesday evening. The Maroons dropped to 10-1, 0-1 in the ODAC while the Generals improved to 8-0 with a 3-0 mark in ODAC play.
The Maroons dropped in three sets, 25-21, 25-19 and 26-24, which was the most exciting set of the match. The women had a good number of fans showing their support in the match which increased the intensity throughout the evening.
Kate Feldman led Roanoke with 31 assists and nine digs while Kelsey Largen had 11 kills and Maggie Wagner with nine kills of her own. Caitlyn Long had 15 digs to lead the Maroons, as she is now 16 away from breaking the school-record in that category. Erin Burnop had four kills and a block solo while Marcy Conner finished with six kills and a block assist which was the 100th of her career.
The women will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. as they battle ODAC-foe Eastern Mennonite. The Maroons are 10-17 all-time vs. the Royals but have won the last six matches dating back to 2003. Game time is slated for Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2:00 p.m.
