ROANOKE – The Roanoke College volleyball team defeated Hollins University 3-0 on Tuesday evening.  The Maroons now have a record of 16-9; 6-4 ODAC, while Hollins sits with a mark of 4-22; 1-9 in ODAC play.
 
With tonight's victory, the Maroons have picked up their 16^th win this season, tying the win total from the 2012 season.  This is the 11^th time in Blair Trail's 15 years as head coach that she has won 16 matches in a season. 
 
With Samantha Klostermann's 10 kills tonight, she inches closer to moving into eighth all-time in Roanoke history.  Her 684 currently ranks 9^th all time, recently passing assistant coach Marcy Conner (664).  In eighth is Molly Ziggler who amassed 705 in four years of play.  Also on the records watch is Mackenzie Tyree, whose 821 digs in just two years ranks 8^th all-time at Roanoke College.  She just passed Stefanie Jones who tallied 814 from 2004-07.  Tyree is just 49 digs from passing Susan Brown (1992-94) in seventh place.
 
Roanoke defeated Hollins in three sets: 25-14, 25-18, 25-13.  Samantha Klostermann led the Maroons in kills with 10, followed by Macey Tyree, Carrie Heldreth and Allison White who had six each.  Jessica Block dished out a team high 16 assists, while Alexandra Martin tallied 14 of her own.  Mackenzie Tyree pulled out 16 digs, while Klosterman finished with nine.  Heldreth also led the team in blocks with two.  Mackenzie and Macey Tyree both finished the evening with three service aces.
 
The Maroons return to action on  Saturday, October 26^th as they take on Penn State-Harrisburg and Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, VA.  The first match is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
