The Lead: The Roanoke volleyball team opened Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday when they traveled to W&L. On Saturday, the Maroons continued conference play with an ODAC tri-match against Lynchburg and Eastern Mennonite. Each of the first three sets were played extremely close, but the home-standing Hornets led 2-1. The fourth set seemed to be just like the others, however the Hornets used an 8-1 run to seize control on their way to the 3-1 win over RC.

  • A Kennedy Clemmer service ace cut the Roanoke deficit to three late, but the Hornets would prevail, 25-21, to take the opener.
  • Tied at 17-17 in the second, the Maroons would use kills by Parker Moody and Ryanna Clark coupled with a Hornet miscue allowed the Maroons to open up a 23-19 lead. Lynchburg rallied to tie at 23-23 but Roanoke closed out the set on an Angel Ross kill.
  • The Hornets opened the third frame by taking six of the first seven points. Roanoke would stop the run but couldn't close the gap as Lynchburg took a 2-1 lead with a 25-20 set win.
  • With all the momentum on their side, the home team used a 15-5 advantage at the net to take the fourth set and the match, 3-1.
  • Clark had 10 kills with Moody and Ross adding eight apiece. Clemmer had 19 digs and four service aces while Olivia Newman added 23 assists.
