The Lead: Friday night marked the end of the regular season for the Roanoke volleyball team as they traveled to Lynchburg to face Randolph College. The Maroons looked to end the season on a six-match win streak, including four consecutive in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Roanoke would finish the season on a 6-0 run heading into the ODAC tournament with a 3-0 sweep of the WildCats.  

Highlights:

  • With the first set tied at 10-10, Randolph used a 4-0 surge to take the lead. An ace by Kylee Draper and pair of kills by Linsey Bailey capped a 5-0 Maroon run that allowed RC to re-take the lead.
  • The score would be tied at 20-20, thanks to a couple WildCat miscues, a Parker Moody block and kill by Angel Ross, Roanoke would take the opener 25-20.
  • The Maroons would use an 8-0 run that was ended by a Logan Pasley service ace and another Moody kill to build a 17-9 advantage and go on to take the second frame, 25-19.
  • With all the momentum on their side, Roanoke took a seven-point lead late into the third set. A kill by Ryanna Clark and another by Moody would seal the win for the Maroons.
  • Bailey finished with a match high 15 kills to go with nine by Clark whle Moody ended the night with six kills and a block. Olivia Newman had 20 assists with Draper adding 11. Kennedy Clemmer registered a match-high 20 digs.

Up next: Roanoke will start the ODAC Tournament with a quarterfinal matchup at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday.
