Baseball Rolls Past Virginia Intermont, 8-2

SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke got back on the winning track in an 8-2 win over Virginia Intermont Wednesday evening at Lewis-Gale Field.  The Maroons improved to 11-18 on the season, while the Cobras dropped to 11-25.

John Terlesky (Charlottesville, VA , Albermarle)(2-0) went seven innings with five innings and one earned run allowed.  Joseph Peery (Troy, VA, Monticello)went the final two innings with a strikeout.

Virginia Intermont scored in the first to take the early lead before the Maroons took the lead for good in the second inning.  With the bases loaded, Caylen Baire drew a walk to bring in the first run.  Cameron Travalini (Millville, DE, Indian River)came to the plate and delivered a two-RBI double to make it, 3-0.

Barrett Henderson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spirng)two-RBI double in the third brought home Alan Moore (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)and Jay Laramore (Pfafftown, NC, Guilford)to give them a four-run advantage.  Travalini walked, stole second for his 13th of the season, and scored off Graham Thacker (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest)RBI-single to increase the Maroons lead, 6-1 after four complete.

Thacker had an RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth, followed by Noah Davidson (Salem, VA, Salem)second triple of the season which brought home Thacker.  It gave them enough runs to hold on as Peery pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win.

Thacker led the Maroons, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI's.  Sean Mathiesen (San Clemente, CA, San Clemente)went 2-for-2 with two runs.  Laramore had a single, a double and two runs.

The men return to action on Saturday, April 17 as they host Eastern Mennonite on Senior Day.  It will be the Maroons regular season finale, as they are looking to advance to their first ODAC Tournament since the 2004 season.  The Doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at Kiwanis Field.
