NEWPORT NEWS - Roanoke College senior, Jacob Clifton, was named to the 2014 VaSID College Baseball First Team, announced Friday. Clifton is just the second Maroon to be named to a VaSID All-State team, and the first player to be named First Team All-State.

Jacob Clifton - 1B - Vinton, VA
Jacob Clifton played in 32 of 34 games for the Maroons and finished the season with a batting average of .387, which was the 10th highest in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). In 124 at bats, Clifton scored 29 runs off 48 hits during the year. He ranked in the top-10 in the ODAC in four statistical categories: triples (4th - 3), runs batted in (7th - 34), home runs (6th - 6) and slugging percentage (5th - .653). There were seven games during the 2014 school year where Clifton had a multiple RBI game, including five RBIs against Ferrum College on March 20th. He also finished with two stolen bases and an on base percentage of .451. Over his four year career, Clifton ranks in the top-five all-time at Roanoke College in 14 statistical categories including games played, at bats, walks, putouts, hits, total bases, doubles and home runs. He also ranks top-five in Roanoke single-season marks in 11 different categories as well.
