SALEM, VA. -
A Roanoke College baseball player, Diego Meneses, is raising money for his native Guatemala after a volcano killed more than 100 people in the disaster. Meneses helped to start a group called: Striking Out Poverty. They aim to provide necessities such as medicine, water, and clothes to those affected.

They want to eventually provide help with education and employment, too. "I like to help people," said Meneses.

"You miss home, and then you see this tragedy happening, and you can't do anything about it. So, the least we can do is fundraising money and sending it back home to buy medicine, soap to shower, water, just basic stuff."

Meneses says that for a third-world country like Guatemala, any donation helps. To donate, click here.
