SALEM, Va. -- It is not just the major leagues that feature all-stars as the Roanoke baseball team features a pair that have been honored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) as members of the All-State College Division Baseball team.
Conner Butler was a First Team All-State selection at second base while teammate Jonny Wall was Second Team All-State at shortstop.
Butler appeared in 42 games for the Maroons this year. Over the course of the season he collected 52 hits, 47 RBIs, 24 walks, 17 doubles, seven home runs, six stolen bases, and four triples. He was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week in the final week of the regular season. Butler was named All-Region by both ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com as well as First Team All-ODAC earlier this summer.
Wall played in all 45 games this season for Roanoke. Overall he finished with 66 hits in 175 at bats. Of those 66 hits, 14 were doubles, three were triples, and three were home runs. He finished with 44 RBIs and 15 walks while stealing eight bases. In addition to Second Team All-ODAC honors, Wall was named Third Team All-Region by D3Baseball.com.
The Maroons finished 28-17 overall and 16-6 in the ODAC, tying for third in the conference standings. Roanoke defeated Washington and Lee in an ODAC quarterfinal series before falling to Shenandoah on the second weekend of the conference tournament.
