Roanoke College head baseball coach Zach Ullrich has announced the hiring of Sean Guida '18 as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2023 season.

"We are very fortunate to have someone the caliber of coach Guida at Roanoke," said Ullrich. "He has proven himself both on the field and as a coach. I am looking forward to him helping bring an ODAC title back to the Salem."

Guida spent last season on the coaching staff at Plattsburgh State in Plattsburgh, N.Y. While with the Cardinals, he helped the team to its first post season appearance since 2012 while also increasing the teams batting average (.266 to .306), on-base percentage (.365 to .405), and on-base plus slugging (.697 to .829).

During his time at PSU and prior to joining the coaching ranks, Guida spent a few years playing professional baseball with several teams from the Spring of 2019 until the summer of 2022. During his professional career, he a two-time all-star for the New Hampshire Wild (2021) and Japan Islanders (2022). In 2022, he won the Empire League Championship with the Tupper Lake Riverpigs while being named the championship MVP.

A dominate player with the Maroons from 2015-18, Guida earned no only ODAC accolades but several national recognitions as well. In 2017 he helped lead the Maroons to their first ODAC title and an appearance in the Division III College World Series. He was also named the ODAC Tournament MOP while earning Second Team All-South Region honors. In 2018 Guida was named the ODAC Player of the Year as well as First Team All-South Region, South Region Player of the Year and Second Team All-American by D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association.
