Maroon Field Hockey Honored by NFHCA

Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College field hockey team earned numerous National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) academic awards during the 2016 season.

The team collected the NFHCA National Academic Team award, which goes to teams that have a 3.0 team GPA in the fall semester.

Two Maroons were also named 2016 Collegiate Scholars of Distinction by the NFHCA. These outstanding student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher throughout the first semester of the 2016 academic year.

For the fourth time in her career, senior Emily McQueen earned the prestigious award, while junior Caroline Peterson is now a three-time honoree.

Eight Maroons were also named to the 2016 SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Squad by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher during the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

McQueen and fellow senior Arielle Allam were one of two Maroons to earn the distinction in each of their four years.
