The Lead: Emilee Wooten and Fiona Dougan each scored two goals as RC topped Wilson 5-0 in field hockey action.

How it Happened 

  • Dougan got RC on the board just six minutes into the game when she one-timed a shot off a push pass from Lauren Heffron to make the score 1-0 Maroons.
  • The score stayed that way until just 52 seconds were left in the half when Wooten weaved through traffic in front of the of the cage and scored to make it a 2-0 game.
  • RC went up 3-0 when Megan Diehl had her initial shot stopped and was able to collect the rebound and fire off a shot to score and extend the Roanoke lead at the 51:30 mark.
  • The Maroons went up 4-0 when RC crossed a pass that a diving Diehl tipped to Wooten who scored her sixth goal of the season.
  • Dougan tacked on an unassisted goal with just under five minutes to play to make it 5-0.
  • Roanoke outshot Wilson 32-3 and held a 15-0 advantage in penalty corners.
  • Emma Clark made two stops in 41 minutes in the cage for RC, before giving way to Heather Schauder. Kayla Butts made 12 saves for Wilson.
