The Lead: Roanoke rallied for a 2-1 victory in penalty strokes over St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
- St. Mary's got a goal from Kara Feidelseit at the 31:27 minute mark to give the Seahawks the lead just before halftime.
- The score remained that way until the 51:26 mark when Roanoke's Lauren Heffron evened the game up at 1-1 with an unassisted goal.
- Both teams played the final 18 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods without anyone being able to score.
- RC went first in the shootout and its first and third shooters, Julie Van Marken and Kaylin Stenson, each scored to lead the Maroons to their fifth straight victory.
- Roanoke held a 15-14 edge in shots for the game, while SMC had an edge in penalty corners 12-10.
- Emma Clark made five saves on the day, including two in the second half and three in overtime.
