The Lead: Eight different Maroons scored as Roanoke topped Sweet Briar 9-0 Wednesday afternoon in field hockey action.

How it Happened

• Kendall Gamble got RC on the board at the 10:35 mark when she took a crossing pass from Kaylin Stenson and scored to make it 1-0.
• Emilee Wooten doubled the scored less than a minute later when she dribbled straight up the center of the field and scored to make it a 2-0 game.
• A Hannah Bunten strike 21 minutes into the game sent the teams to the locker room with RC ahead 3-0.
• Fiona Dougan scored two and a half minutes into the second half to put RC 4-0 before Paige Warner extended the lead to 5-0 with a score at the 54:33 mark.
• Mallory Wainwright tallied a goal at 61:37 and sparked a what would prove to be three RC goals in less than three minutes as Kestrel Thorne Kaunelis and Wainwright scored to put RC up 8-0.
• Stenson rounded out the scoring in the final minute of the contest.
• Emma Clark and Heather Schauder split time in net, with neither having to make a save.
• RC outshot SBC 25-0 and held a 16-0 edge in penalty corners.
