The Lead: Leonore Keunen tallied a hat trick as Roanoke used four second-half goals to top Eastern Mennonite 5-2 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke got on the board first when Rebecca Schmidt scored at the 14:12 mark to give the Maroons an early 1-0 lead.
  • EMU knotted the game at 1-1 with just over three minutes left before halftime on an Alyssa Gore shot that was assisted by Lauren Hartzler.
  • The score remained tied through halftime and into the 45th minute when Keunen scored to make it 2-1. She then scored just over five minutes later on a breakaway to put RC up 3-1.
  • An Emily Augsburger goal with 12 minutes left made it 3-2 Roanoke, but that would be as close as EMU would get as Paige Warner scored just over three minutes later to put the Maroons back up by two at 4-2.
  • Keunen closed out the scoring with a goal with just 23 seconds to go in the game.
  • RC outshot EMU 32-10, while the Royals held a 7-4 edge in penalty corners.
  • Emma Clark made three saves for RC, while Kelsey Troyer made 16 stops for EMU.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action on Tuesday when it heads to Washington and Lee for a key ODAC game at 7:00 p.m.
