Stenson, Clark & Wooten Earn VaSID All-State Honors

Salem, Va. – Three Roanoke College Field Hockey standouts have been named to the 2017 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Team.

Defender Kaylin Stenson was named First-Team All-State, while goalkeeper Emma Clark and forward Emilee Wooten were named to the second-team.

The all-state honor is the latest in a long list of awards for Stenson following the season. The junior has already been named First-Team All-ODAC and Second-Team All-Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Stenson and Clark were the backbone of a Roanoke defense that was tops in the ODAC, allowing just an average of 1.49 goals per game during the season. The duo also helped RC to seven shutouts on the season which was a league best.

Clark started all 19 games in the cage for the Maroons, recording five solo shutouts on the year which was first in the conference. She made 81 saves which was fifth best in the ODAC for a .764 save percentage which ranks fourth. Clark joined Stenson on the All-ODAC First-Team.

Wooten made an immediate impact during her first year in Salem, ranking in the top-five in the ODAC in goals (16) and points (38). Wooten's 16 goals is the second most by an RC freshman, while her 38 points is third highest. For her efforts, she was named Second-Team All-ODAC.
