Maroons Fall in Senior Night to Randolph, 79-72 on Wednesday
SALEM - The Roanoke Men's Basketball team dropped their final home contest of the regular season to Randolph College, 79-72 on Wednesday night. Roanoke falls to 6-18, 2-13 in ODAC play, while Randolph rises to 12-12, 7-8 ODAC.

Before the contest, Roanoke College celebrated the athletic accomplishments of the two seniors on the team, Logan Singleton and Adam Kessler. Singleton is currently the fifth leading scorer in the ODAC, Kessler moved in to a starting position scoring 5.3 PPG and 3.6 RPG.

Both teams opened to a slow start, as after the first 10 minutes, Roanoke trailed by one 8-7. The Maroons tied up the game just moments later as Kwasi Amponsah converted a three-point play to tie the game at 10. Amponsah's shot was quickly followed by a Logan Singleton jumper to take a two point lead at the 8:44 mark.

As time whittled down in the first stanza, Randolph's Mike Ehilegbu knocked down three of his 11 first half points, to give the Wildcats a six point lead, 25-19. Roanoke's Jordan Thacker responded with five points of his own to cut the lead to 25-24. Randolph held that margin through the end of the first half, as the teams entered the locker room with a 27-26 halftime score.

After the first 20 minutes, Amponsah led the Maroons with seven points, while Jack Hamilton led the team with three Jack Hamilton.

Randolph opened up the second half with a pair of trey's from Colton Hunt, extending the lead to seven 33-26. Hunt aided the Wildcats in pushing their lead to nine at the 14:23 mark with another three-pointer. Stefan Vulevic responded with a three of his own, and Adam Kessler dropped in a layup to cut the deficit to four.

Just three minutes later, Randolph had pushed their lead to 13, 50-37, its largest lead up to that point in the contest.

From 4:18 to 1:02 in the second half, Roanoke went on a 10-3 run to bring the game within five points. Within that run, Kwasi had four of those points.

Amponsah knocked down a pair of free throws to bring the contest within four, 74-70 with 35.9 left on the clock. With 12.8 on the clock, Jack Hamilton tipped in a shot to bring the game within three, as Coach Page Moir quickly called a timeout. However, Randolph was able to knocked down free throws in the final moments to win 79-72.

Amponsah led the team with 18 points, followed by Hamilton who netted 12 points. Singleton was able to finish with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Wildcats were hot from behind the arc hitting ten threes in the contest. Randolph outshot the Maroons 50% to 40% from the field, while the Maroons led in rebounds 40-29. Derrick Woods-Morrow led the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Mike Ehilegbu and Zach Desgain each finished with 17 points.

The Maroons will travel to Bridgewater on Saturday, February 18th to battle in the final game of the regular season. Tip-off for the ODAC match-up is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
