The Lead: Four Maroons finished with double-digit points as Roanoke defeated Greensboro 85-79 Sunday afternoon in Salem.

How it Happened:

  • Josh Freund recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. C.J. Miles tallied a game-high 23 points followed by Joey Miller with 21 and Jorden Davis who came off the bench to score 19.
  • Joseph Gatling scored 21 points for Greensboro followed by Carmoni Marks with 16 and Trey Smith with 15. Kyle Riddley rounded out the double-digit scoring with 14 points.
  • Freund made a layup, assisted from Miles, to give RC a 20-19 lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half.
  • With the score 36-34 Roanoke, Davis made a layup to spark a 6-0 run to keep the Pride scoreless through the last two minutes of the first half as the Maroons headed into the intermission with a 42-34 advantage.
  • Freund drew a Greensboro foul on a made lay-up and sunk the free throw to give Roanoke its largest lead of the game at 60-46 with 14 minutes left in the contest.
  • GC closed the gap to four points with a three-pointer from Gatling with 8:31 left on the clock before Smith made a jumper at 5:20 to give GC the lead at 69-68.
  • With the score tied 75-75 with three minutes remaining, Roanoke scored six straight points to take the final lead of the game, capped by shot from Davis.
  • Roanoke shot 60.8% going 31-for-51 from the field while holding the Pride to 46.6% going 27-for-58. Davis led the way going 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-6 from behind the arc.
