The Lead: Roanoke earned its fifth straight win in an 85-76 victory over Shenandoah on Alumni Day/Maroon Madness at the Cregger Center.

How it Happened:

  • The two teams kept things tight until Roanoke went on an 8-0 run to take a 26-15 advantage with eight minutes to go in the first half.
  • Roanoke and Shenandoah continued to trade baskets through the first half as a pair of Freund buckets closed out RC's first-half scoring to take a 48-37 lead into the locker room.
  • Four minutes into the second half, Jorden Davis sank a three-pointer and the and-one foul shot to extend the gap to 55-43 with 16:02 to play. 
  • Shenandoah brought it within four following a three-point play from Jonah Meredith with four minutes to go to make it 73-69. RC made 10 free-throws down the stretch, with five coming from Freund, to secure the win. 
  • Freund led the way with a team-high 31 points and 16 rebounds while Miles and Colton Reed both finished with 14 points apiece.
  • Christopher Chaney led Shenandoah completing a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds followed by strong showings from Dominic Steward with 15 points and Jonah Meredith with 12 points.
