The Lead: Second-seeded Roanoke College's 11th win in a row earns them a trip to the 2018 ODAC Men's Basketball Championship game as RC topped Washington and Lee 82-72 Saturday night in semifinal action. The Maroons will face Emory & Henry at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday for the championship.

How it Happened

  • The Maroons came out firing and took a 14-4 lead on a three-pointer by C.J. Miles with 15:37 to go in the first-half.
  • With RC leading 22-15, the Maroons went on a 17-4 run, taking a 39-19 lead on a bucket by Jorden Davis with just over four minutes to go in the half.
  • After a three-pointer by Joe Mikalauskas made the score 45-28 with 1:13 to play in the half, Clayton Murtha knocked down a pair free-throws in the final minute of the half for W&L to send the teams to the break with RC up 45-30.
  • Washington and Lee rallied with an early 12-4 second-half run, making it a 56-47 game on an Alex Starr three-pointer.
  • RC was able to push its lead back to 13 when Josh Freund connected on a jumper to make the score 65-52 with just under eight minutes to go.
  • The Generals scored eight unanswered points to trim the RC lead to 65-60 with 4:30 to play in the game.
  • Roanoke would score seven of the next eight points, pushing in front 72-61 following two free-throws from Miles with 1:48 left on the clock and put the game away.
  • Miles led RC with 23 points, Davis had 18, while Freund had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mikalauskas finished with 11 points for RC.
  • W&L was paced by 16 points from Devin Kearns. Nicholas George had 15 points, while Starr and Murtha each finished with 11.
  • The win puts RC in the championship game for the first time since 2007 and secures the Maroons first 20-win season since the 2000-01 season.
