The Lead: The Roanoke College Golf team placed eighth at the 2017 Lynchburg College Invitational that wrapped up Tuesday at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va.

How it Happened:

  • Andrew Butts had the best individual performance for the Maroons placing in a tie for 10th overall after shooting a two day total of 68-84—152.
  • Nicklaus Norris posted a 23rd place finish following a 78-79—157. Andrew Edwards was one stroke behind Norris with a 158 for the tournament. He shot 80 on day one and improved by two strokes on day two to post a 78.
  • The Maroons carded a 315-323—638 for the tournament to finish eighth, just three shots behind Averett and The Apprentice School in sixth-place.
  • Methodist's B Team claimed the team title with a 290-296—586, 31 strokes better than second-place York.
