The Lead: The Roanoke College Golf team wrapped up the 2017 Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Tournament in Jacksonville, N.C. on Sunday.
How it Happened
- The Maroons finished 11th overall with a three-day total of 321 – 295 – 303—919. York took the team title with an 897, one stroke better than Marymount.
- RC was led by Daniel Johnson and Nick Peters who each finished in a tie for 25th place individually in the field of 73 players. Johnson carded a 83-73-73—229, while Peters capped the tournament with a 77-74-78—229.
- Nicklaus Norris finished with a 84-78-77 – 239, while Andrew Edwards carded a 87-79-75 –241. Andrew Butts started the tournament with a 77 in round one and a 70 in round two before having to withdraw in round three due to injury.
- Tyler Newton of York won the individual title, scoring a 76-67-71—214, which was two strokes better than Andrew Wally of Stevenson.
Up Next: Roanoke will be back on the course on Monday when it takes part in the Shipbuilders Memorial Invitational at Williamsburg CC.
