The Basics:

Finish: Roanoke College finished 12th out of 17 teams at the Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate hosted by RC.
Results: Day One - 308 (10) | Day Two - 312 (12th)
Location: Blacksburg, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke College was off for over a month since their 8th place effort in Bridgewater. The Maroons placed 10th after day one and fell two spots in the final round.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons got off to a sluggish start in the opening round, falling to the back of the pack by posting a combined eight over on the first two holes. The middle six holes would see Roanoke move up to as high as sixth before settling for a 10th place, 308, effort.
  • Cameron Dillon would lead the way with an opening round 74, T19th for the day. Nicholas Peters (75) and Owen Grayson (76) would help Roanoke to a top 10 start.
  • Day two would see a much better start as the Maroons were even after the first three holes. However, Roanoke faltered down the stretch going 10 over for the final three holes of the event.
  • Dillon moved up two spots after a second round 73. Fellow freshman Justin Grenier competed as an individual and finished first in the 10 player group.

Up next: Roanoke will warp up their fall season with a trip to Greensboro on October 27-29. RC will compete in a 24 team field at the O'Briant-Jensen hosted by Guilford College.
