The Lead: Nine different Maroons scored goals and Ian Davies made 15 saves in net as No. 18 Roanoke topped Guilford 16-9 in ODAC action on Tuesday night.

How it Happened:

  • Steven Jackson scored just 30 seconds into the game to give RC the early lead.
  • After Nick Damiano evened the game at 1-1 for Guilford, Jackson scored at the 10:38 mark to spark a five goal run for Roanoke that was capped by a Peter Lindley strike with four minutes to go in the first quarter and made the score 6-1.
  • RC led 7-2 following the first 15 minutes of play and added to its advantage when Cameron Linsley scored at the 14:13 mark of the second quarter, followed by a Dylan Fitzgerald goal 13 seconds later to put the Maroons up 9-2.
  • A Brendan Devane man-up tally with 9:53 to go in the half made it 10-2, while Jason Sarro struck 18 seconds later to put RC in front 11-2.
  • Guilford scored the final three goals of the half to send the teams to the intermission with Roanoke in front 11-5.
  • Matthew Lintner opened the second-half scoring 46 seconds into the third quarter to make it a 12-5 game.
  • Guilford finished the quarter on a 3-1 run to close its deficit to 13-8 heading into the fourth quarter, but IV Stucker scored twice in the first four minutes of final quarter to extend the RC lead to 15-8.
  • Jackson and Stucker scored three goals apiece. Devane, Sarro and Pickett Riehl each scored twice and Kevin Jackson dished out four assists.
  • Linsley won 14-of-16 face-offs, while Reid Kaminski won 7-of-12 to help RC to a 21-7 edge. Linsley snared eight groundballs as Roanoke held a 44-28 advantage as a team.
  • Roanoke outshot Guilford 72-44. GC keeper Parker Styles 26 saves in the cage for the Quakers, while Aswan Bland scored four times for GC.
