How it Happened

  • Salisbury got a goal from Nathan Blondino just 38 seconds into the game before Brendan Devane tied it at 1-1 at the 13:03 mark.
  • SU got a score from Blondino to go up 2-1 and led 4-1 after the first quarter thanks to a pair of goals from Corey Gwin. Goalkeeper Colin Reymann made seven key saves in the first quarter to keep the Maroons off the scoreboard as well.
  • RC's Peter Lindley scored 25 seconds into the second quarter to make it 4-2, but Salisbury would get back-to-back to push its lead to 6-2 with 10:20 to go in the half.
  • A Steven Jackson goal with 8:14 to play and a Devane strike less than a minute later pulled RC to within two at 6-4.
  • With the score 7-5, Salisbury tallied two goals in the final 2:12 of the first-half to hold a 9-5 edge at intermission.
  • SU scored the first five goals of the second-half, moving ahead 14-5 on a Nick Garbarino goal with 6:43 left in the third.
  • Jason Sarro scored for RC with just under six minutes to go in the third, and sparked what would prove to be a 5-1 run for Roanoke to close the game.
  • Roanoke got four goals from Devane, while Kevin Jackson had two goals and an assist. Steven Jackson had one goal and two helpers for the Maroons. Ian Davies made 13 stops in the cage for RC.
  • Roanoke held a 41-40 edge in shots and won the groundball battle 37-35.
  • Carlson Kalama had five goals for SU, while Gabarino scored four times. Reymann made 16 saves for Saisbury in the win.
