The Lead: No. 17 Washington and Lee held Roanoke scoreless for close to 20 minutes in the second-half as the Generals were able to top RC 13-8 Saturday afternoon in Salem.
How it Happened:
- Roanoke jumped out to an early lead with goals by Matthew Lintner, Daniel Medvetz and another Lintner goal making it 3-0 less than five minutes into the game.
- The Generals came back with five consecutive goals to go ahead 5-3 with 4:52 left in the half following a Mike Weaver goal.
- Goals by Lintner and Jason Sarro made it a 6-5 game in favor of W&L at halftime.
- W&L scored the four lone goals of the third quarter to take a 10-5 lead, then opened the fourth with a 3-1 spurt to put the game away.
- Lintner finished with four goals for RC, while Ian Davies had 17 saves in the cage.
- W&L was led by A.J. Witherell and Mike Weaver who each had three goals on the day. Jack Taylor made 13 saves for the Generals.
- Washington and Lee led 43-34 in shots and 36-17 in groundballs.
