Maroons 4th in ODAC poll

On Friday afternoon, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released their 2022 Men's Lacrosse preseason poll. Roanoke College received 70 points, trailing only Hampden-Sydney, Washington & Lee, and top vote getting Lynchburg.

The 2021 edition of the Roanoke men's lacrosse team completed a Covid shortened season with a 7-4 overall record, including 5-2 in ODAC play. The season would end with a depleted Maroon squad being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2021 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Four all conference players return for the 2022 campaign. Luke Kammerman and George Gilbert are back after earning 2nd team All ODAC honors a year ago. Kammerman recorded 15 goals and 25 assists on attack while Gilbert earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Honorable Mention All-American honors after a season that would see the midfielder notch 23 goals. Luca Docking, 3rd team in 2021, returns after scoring 19 goals with 13 assists as does fellow 3rd team member John Dias, a long stick midfielder that helped Roanoke to a Clear Percentage of over 85%.

Roanoke will start the season with a trip to Christopher Newport on February 12th. After a home date with Catholic on the 19th, Roanoke travels to Baltimore to play at the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame against Dickinson on February 27th. March will see four consecutive, non-conference, home games before the start of ODAC play with visits to Virginia Wesleyan and Washington and Lee. Hampden-Sydney comes to Salem on April 2nd with Lynchburg making the trip west on the 19th, giving Roanoke home field advantage against two of their biggest rivals. The season will conlude on April 23rd with an Alumni Weekend visit from Randolph College.
