Roanoke College men’s lacrosse head coach Bill Pilat has announced that Peter Donley will be joining his staff as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.

Donley comes to Salem after serving as a volunteer assistant lacrosse coach for Penn State University. While in Happy valley, he was the Faceoff Coach and Unit Coordinator. Penn State was 9-9 during his two seasons at the university, including a #7 National Ranking in 2020. Donley planned and implemented all faceoff schemes and game plans that led the program to the #1 Faceoff winning percentage during the 2021 campaign. In addition to his on-field duties, Donley used video from practice film to develop team concepts and individual player, assisted with all aspects of the recruiting process, and acted as the team’s liaison with the USILA, IMLCA, NCAA, and Big Ten.

From 2016-2019, Donley served as the assistant coach for Dickinson College. During his time with the Red Devils, Donley was responsible for the recruitment of over 30 players for a program that went 40-14 over a three-year stretch, including a 2018 Centennial Conference Championship. Coach Donley helped to mentor multiple All-Americans as the program was ranked as high as 7th during his tenure.

Peter got his start in coaching in 2014 at Illinois Wesleyan University. While working on his master’s degree, Donley spent 2014-2016 assisting with the program. 38 new recruits came to the program during his run with the Titans. He was the defense and faceoff coordinator as well as working as the strength and conditioning coach.

Donley graduated from Susquehanna University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Sigmund Weis School of Business. He received his post-graduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan, Master’s of Science in Kinesiology and Recreation, in December of 2016.
