Walter nets Hat Trick in Season Finale Win over Bridgewater

Harrisonburg, Va. --- Senior Captain Michael Walter scored a career-high three goals in a 9-1 victory over Bridgewater Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons ended their season 12-3-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the ODAC to secure home-field advantage throughout the ODAC Tournament.
Walter, a defender for most of the season, scored two of his three goals in the second half to lift his season total to six on the season. His 14 points is third on the team.
Roanoke out shot Bridgewater, 27-10, 18-4 in shots on goal with a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. The nine goals today was a season-high and was the third time this season with four or more goals. It was the highest scoring output since 2004 (Ferrum, 9-0).
Chris Collins scored two goals of his own along with an assist to lift the Maroons to the season-ending win. He scored the game-winner just eight minutes in the contest as he led the Maroons with five shots, all on goal. He now has 15 points on the season, second on the team along with a team-best 22 shots on goal.
Zaan Janse scored his first points of the season off a goal and an assist in the win with four shots on the day. Junior Tim Dunn scored his first two goals of the season for his first multi-goal game of his career in the win. Both goals came in the second half, five minutes within each other as he now has three goals for his career.
Adam Thompson, Casey Shotts and Tyler Rinko each had a save for Roanoke. Zane Lineberry led the Eagles with six saves.
The men will now await their first ODAC-opponent in the conference quarterfinals Saturday, Nov. 1. Game time is TBA. The Maroons are 18-12 all-time in the ODAC Tournament since 1989 and are the defending ODAC Champions.
