Men's Soccer Ranked Nationally in Four Categories

Salem, VA --- The men are placed in the top quarter of 300 ranked teams in three separate categories. In the NCAA Division III rankings, the Maroons are 23rd in team goals against average, 54th in shutout percentage, and 55th in won-lost-tied percentage. Out of 150 ranked teams, the men stand 73rd in save percentage. Roanoke is also ranked first in the ODAC in goals against (4) and second with four shutouts.
The men's soccer team continues to excel this season with a record of 5-2-1. The men defeated ODAC rivals Va. Wesleyan and Washington & Lee to uphold an undefeated mark of 2-0 in the ODAC.
Seniors Shaman Douglass and Adam Thompson have both had a significant influence in these standings. Douglass is currently ranked 92nd in points per game and assists per game with an average of 1.83 and 0.5 respectively. He also places 123rd with 0.67 goals per game.
Thompson averages 0.497 goals against to earn him the 29th spot out of 300 and second in the ODAC. He also stands in 83rd place in the NCAA and third in the ODAC in save percentage with .824 saves per game. Thompson leads the conference with three complete shutouts.
Roanoke is also led by Seniors Michael Walter and Michael Rouhana. Walter has posted three goals and six points thus far. Rouhana has tallied two goals, one assist, and five points on the season. They both sit atop the ODAC standings in game winning goals with three and two game winners respectively.
The Maroons look to continue their undefeated streak in the conference by hosting Randolph-Macon Wednesday, Oct. 1st and Emory & Henry on Tuesday, Oct. 7th. The men hold a 13-11-4 advantage over the Yellow Jackets and a 14-1 advantage over the Wasps. Game times are scheduled for 7:00pm.
The men will battle Salisbury, #18 in the latest NSCAA National Poll, this Saturday on the road. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. The Maroons are 3-5 against the Sea Gulls and not won or scored a goal in the series since 2002.
