ASHLAND, Va. --- Roanoke scored both goals in the first half and held on to win, 2-0 over Randolph-Macon in ODAC action Saturday afternoon. The Maroons improved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-0 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-2-2 in conference play.
In his first game back after being sidelined with a back injury, Chris Collins picked up where he left off with a goal and an assist as the Maroons remained undefeated in conference play.
In the 13th minute, Taylor Johnston scored off a corner kick from Collins to go up, 1-0 early in the first half.
In the 34th minute, Collins scored his ninth goal of the season unassisted as the Maroons went into the half with a 2-0 advantage. They held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the second half to seal its seventh shutout win of the season.
Roanoke out-shot Randolph-Macon, 18-8, including 7-1 in shots on goal. They also held a 12-2 corner kick advantage.
Colin Royster finished with five saves for the Yellow Jackets while Roanoke's Ryan Russell collected one save in his first game back since Sept. 18.
The men will have a week off before traveling to Lexington, Va. for a match-up with Washington & Lee in ODAC action. Game time is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
