Maroons Hold Off Late Surge by Hampden-Sydney to Win, 2-1 on Friday
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's soccer team held off a late charge by Hampden-Sydney to win 2-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference competition. The Maroons are now 5-3, 3-1 in the ODAC, while the Tigers are now 2-8, and 1-3 in ODAC play.

Tyler Carbaugh scored at the 20:58 mark in the first half after receiving a corner kick. The Maroons would hold on to this 1-0 lead for the next 64 minutes, before bolstering it with another goal from Robbie Lentine. Lentine took a pass from Patrick Bain, and found the right side of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.

Hampden-Sydney made a late surge, as Bryan Talbert potted a goal with just 1:13 to play in regulation. However, the Maroons were able to hold off the Tigers for the next.

Roanoke outshot Hampden-Sydney 14-11 in the contest, with five Maroons taking two shots each. Roanoke also held the edge in corner kicks 9-3. Cole Sinclair played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied four saves.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 3rd as they travel to Lynchburg to play in an ODAC matchup. The contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
