Men's Soccer Advances To ODAC Semifinals With 2-1 Win over Eastern Mennonite
SALEM - Roanoke freshman Robbie Lentine netted the game-winner in the Maroons 2-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday. The Maroons will go on to play the winner of the Randolph/Guilford matchup at 7:00 PM on Saturday night.

Roanoke (11-4-1) has a 5-3 all-time record against Eastern Mennonite (8-11-1) in the ODAC Tournament, and they're 4-1 over the Royals in the quarterfinal game of the ODAC Tournament. The Maroons are also 12-6 against the Royals in games that have one goal differentials.

Roanoke is 32-14-3 all-time in the ODAC tournament, and is looking to improve on that record over the next week. The Maroons were a #1 seed in 2011, and fell in the opening round, 2-0 to Virginia Wesleyan

Eastern Mennonite put a goal up on the board early against the #1 seed, as Christian Rhine slipped past the keeper and put the Royals up 1-0 at 8:56. It took a little while for the Maroons to respond, as they scored the equalizer just moments before the end of the half, when Tyler Carbaugh scored in the lower left corner of the goal.

The game winner came at 73:46, when Robbie Lentine had a one on one opportunity with the goalkeeper, and took a shot into the left side of the net. That goal would prove to be the last as the Maroons advance with the 2-1 victory over the Royals.

Roanoke outshot Eastern Mennonite 19-6, but trailed in corner kicks 6-3. Patrick Bain led the team in shots with six, followed by Carbaugh and Brian White, who had three each. Cole Sinclair played all 90 minutes in net and tallied one save.

The Maroons will host the semifinal round on Wednesday, October 31st, against the winner of the Guilford/Randolph matchup. The time of kickoff is still to be determined. For more information on the ODAC Tournament, click here.
