It was announced at 1:00 PM today during the NCAA Selection Show (Watch), that Roanoke (13-4-2) would face off against Emory University (10-6-2) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The all-time series between the Maroons and Eagles stands at 2-2. These two teams last faced each other on September 3, 2011 in the Roanoke Invitational, where the Maroons defeated the then nationally ranked Eagles, 3-2. Roanoke is currently riding a six-game win streak into the tournament and are 10-1-1 over the last 12 games.

This is the first appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Roanoke College since 2007, and the sixth overall trip for the program. The Maroons reached the NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid by winning their ninth ODAC Championship on Sunday, courtesy of a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Virginia Wesleyan. With Just 59 seconds to play, Brian White lobbed a ball towards the box that AJ Tierce headed into the left side of the goal for the game-winner.
