Men's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry With Trio of First Half Goals
EMORY – The Roanoke College men's soccer team remains undefeated in the ODAC, picking up a victory over Emory & Henry on Wednesday night, 3-0.  The Maroons, who received votes in the latest D3Soccer.com and NSCAA polls have a record of 6-1; 2-0 ODAC, while the Wasps sit with a mark of 1-7; 0-2 in ODAC play.

Roanoke has an all-time record of 20-1 against Emory & Henry and have won the last 18 consecutive matches.  This is the fifth time in the last seven years that the Maroons have bested the Wasps by three or more goals in the last seven years.

Seventeen minutes into the first half, Roanoke scored the first goal of the game, as Garrett Eldridge played a through ball to Robby Lentine, who scored in the left side of the net.  The Maroons would tally another goal in the first half, as Brian White scored an unassisted goal after playing the ball off of a rebound.   After 38 minutes, Roanoke held a 2-0 lead.

White would be successful once more in the first half.  With just 1:40 left on the clock, White took a pass from Marc Dinkel and found the back of the net to take a 3-0 lead.  The Wasps would hold Roanoke scoreless in the second half, but the damage was done, as the Maroons win 3-0 in Emory.

Conner McBane led the Maroons in shots with three, followed by Lentine, Eldridge, Dinkel, White, and Christopher Fisher with two each.  Cole Sinclair and Will Dooley split time in net tonight; as Dooley picked up the Maroons lone save.

The Maroons outshot the Wasps 18-4, while also holding the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.  Roanoke played up for a major portion of the contest, resulting in seven offsides calls to Emory & Henry's one.

The Maroons return to action on Friday night, September 27th as they play host to Eastern Mennonite University.  That contest, which will serve as senior night for eight members of the team, is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
