Men's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime to Hampden-Sydney
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY – The Roanoke College men's soccer team fell in double-overtime on Saturday evening to Hampden-Sydney College, 2-1 in ODAC action.  The Maroons now have a record of 9-5-2; 5-3-2 ODAC, while the Tigers sit with a mark of 8-5-3; 5-3-2 in the ODAC.

Hampden-Sydney struck first in the contest in just the third minute of the game.  Bryan Talbert set up for a corner kick and sailed a ball into the box, where Jason Haas collected the ball and placed it into the back of the net.  As the Tigers scored in the first three minutes of the half, Roanoke scored in the final three minutes of the period as Jackson Goyette scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither team could put the other away in regulation, sending the game into two overtime periods.  It was in the final minute of the second overtime where James Lawrence scored off of a double assist from Robert Stephens and Liam Hogan.  Hampden-Sydney's goal ended the contest as the Tigers picked up the 2-1 victory over the Maroons.

Roanoke outshot Hampden-Sydney in each period, except for the first overtime where both teams put up just one shot.  The Maroons shot advantage over the Tigers was recorded as 24-6, with the Tigers having no more than two shots in any period.  Jackson Goyette led the Maroons in shots with five, followed by Tyler Carbaugh with four.  Mark Strelow and Garrett Eldridge each tallied three shots in the game, as well.  Cole Sinclair played the entire contest in net and tallied one save.
