LYNCHBURG – The Roanoke College men's soccer team fell in the Quarterfinals of the ODAC Championships to Lynchburg College, 1-0 on Saturday.  The Maroons finish the season with a record of 9-7-2, while the Hornets advance to the semifinals on Tuesday with a record of 11-5-2.

The Maroons earned the #5 seed in the ODAC tournament after posting a record of 9-7-2, 5-4-1 in ODAC play.  Three players led the team in scoring in 2013, as Marc Dinkel, Brian White and Robby Lentine each finished with five goals.  Dinkel also led the squad with six assists, followed by Tyler Carbaugh who dished out four.

The Maroons had two players named ODAC Player of the Week in 2013.  Robby Lentine earned the award on September 9th, after scoring two game winning goals in the Shellenberger Classic, also earning All-Tournament Team status.  Brian White garnered the honor on September 30th, scoring three goals over the course of the week.

In tonight's contest, Lynchburg's lone goal came in the 15th minute of the game, as Michael Venegas chipped the ball over a defender to Luke Moore who found the back of the net.

In the second half, Shenandoah's Earl Rimbey took a shot at open goal, but Carl Leist slipped in just in time to knock the ball away to keep the Hornets' lead to 1-0.  While Roanoke had more shots than Lynchburg in each of the halves, the Maroons couldn't slip one past the keeper as the Hornets advance in the ODAC Tournament with the 1-0 victory.

The Maroons outshot Lynchburg 16-12 on the evening.  Marc Dinkel, who returned to the pitch on Saturday, led Roanoke with five shots, while Brian White and Grant McAvan followed with two shots each.  Cole Sinclair played all 90 minute in goal and tallied four saves.
