Men's Soccer Plays Virginia Wesleyan to 0-0 Draw
VIRGINIA BEACH – The Roanoke College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.  The Maroons now have a record of 7-2-2, 4-0-1 in the ODAC, while the Marlins are 5-3-2, 2-1-1 in ODAC play.

The Maroons remain unbeaten in ODAC action with the 0-0 push against Virginia Wesleyan.  As in the 2013 season, Roanoke has gotten through the first five games in ODAC play without a loss, matching the same results through the five game span.  The Maroons got out to a 5-0-1 start in the first six games in 2013.

The Marlins outshot Roanoke 8-3 in the first half of the game, with Fortune Sibanda taking the first two shots for the Maroons.  Tyler Carbaugh took a shot with five left to play in the half, which was saved by Connor Kirkham.  Wesleyan also held a shot advantage of 5-3 in the second half as well.  Roanoke's first two shots of the half came in the first 10 minutes, taken by Orestis Illias and Marc Dinkel, but neither shot fell.  Patrick Daum took an attempt at 74:48, but it was saved by Kirkham.  Roanoke was strong on defense as well, as Roanoke only allowed two shots on goal in the game, only having to make two saves in regulation.

After 90 minutes, the game had to go in to two overtime periods, where the Maroons outshot the Marlins 4-1.  Garrett Eldridge got two shots off in the second overtime period, but neither fell for the Maroons, as both teams finished the contest scoreless after 120 minutes.

Roanoke tallied 10 shots in the contest, with Eldridge, Dinkel, Sibanda and Ilias taking two shots apiece.  Tyler Carbaugh and Patrick Daum finished with one shot each.  Cole Sinclair played 120 minutes, facing 14 shots and saving two.

Wesleyan finished with 14 shots on the night, with only two being on goal.  Isaac Arrington tallied three shots, while three other players fired off two shots each.  Connor Kirkham faced 10 shots, saving seven.

The Maroons return to action on October 8th as they take on Emory & Henry at Kerr Stadium.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
