#24 Ranked Maroons Clinch ODAC Regular Season Crown, Win 2-0 Over Washington and Lee
ROANOKE – The Roanoke College men's soccer team secured the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) regular season title with a victory over Washington & Lee, 2-0 on Saturday.  The #24 ranked Maroons have a record of 12-2-2, 9-0-1 in ODAC play, while the Generals are 10-4-1, 5-4-1 in the ODAC.

With the win, the Maroons clinched the 2014 ODAC regular season title, their third in the last four years.  As the #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament, the Maroons will host a first round game against the #8 seed on November 1st.  Currently, Guilford College sits in the #8 seed, the team the Maroons will meet in their regular season finale on Tuesday at 7:30 in Kerr Stadium.

Roanoke gained control of the contest early on, pushing a very fast pace in the opening minutes.  The Maroons took the upper hand just five minutes in as Marc Dinkel took advantage of a loose ball at the top of the box, firing it home into the left side of the net.  Dinkel continues to lead the ODAC in goals scored, scoring his 11th of the season this evening.  At 5:06, Roanoke held a 1-0 lead over the Generals.  Washington and Lee had an opportunity in the first half to tie the game with a penalty kick, but the shot sailed wide right, keeping the Maroons on top through the end of the first half.

Roanoke increased its lead to two goals at the 65:56 mark as Robby Lentine took a laser of a shot that was just out of reach of the W&L goalkeeper.  This is Lentine's fifth goal of the season, becoming the second highest scorer on the squad outright.  Lentine's goal was assisted by Marc Dinkel, his ninth of the season.  Along with goals scored, Dinkel leads the ODAC in assists (9) and points (31).  He has 12 more points than the second place player in the league.  Roanoke's two goal lead held through the remainder of the contest, as Roanoke clenched the regular season ODAC title.

The Maroons outshot Washington and Lee 16-3 in the contest.  Tyler Carbaugh finished the night with four shots to lead the team, while Robby Lentine, Brandon Bauer, Orestis Ilias and Fortune Sibanda each tallied two shots apiece.  Cole Sinclair played the complete game in net, tallying one save.  This was the sixth shutout win for the Maroons this season.

For the Generals, Zach Colby led the team in shots with two, while kevin Molnar took the remaining shot for the squad.  Albert Civitarese completed the game with six saves over the course of 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Maroons return to action on Tuesday, October 28th as they finish the regular season at home against Guilford College.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:30 PM start.  It will be a double-header with the women's team, who also plays Guilford in a 4:30 PM game.
