The Lead:After two overtime periods, Roanoke tied No. 15 UMass Boston in the season opener at the Shellenberger Classic Friday night in Lynchburg.

How it Happened:

• Roanoke fired off five shots in the first 25 minutes of play but were unable to find the back of the net. 
• One of the Maroons best opportunities came off a strike from Marshall Hodge that hit the post at 37:27, leaving the game scoreless headed into the half.
• Each team tallied eight shots on the night with the Maroons holding a 6-1 advantage in the first half while the Beacons recorded one in each of the overtime periods. The Maroons held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
