The Lead: A pair of second-half goals lifted Mary Washington to a 2-1 victory over Roanoke Saturday afternoon.  
 
How it Happened
  • Roanoke got on the board just under eight minutes into the first-half when Jose Robertson took a pass from Atticus Cooke and found the back of the net to make it a 1-0 advantage for RC.
  • The match stayed that way through halftime and into the 55th minute when UMW's Gary Foley scored off a penalty kick to tie the match.
  • Mary Washington got what proved to be the game-winner in the 85th minute on a goal from Jeremy Hokenson.
  • Roanoke held an 11-9 edge in shots and a 3-2 advantage in cornerkicks.
  • Matt Spencer made seven saves for the Eagles to help keep RC off the board in the second half. Nick Tadros made four stops for RC on the day.
